Booking and Costs

To make a booking we require you to complete one of our booking forms which lists your experience, the type of glider you wish to fly and the dates you would like to visit. We will then do our best to match your experience and requirements to the gliders we have available on your preferred dates.

Licensing is a big part of the requirements to fly in South Africa and we need to do some leg work before you arrive to arrange for a South African validation of your license. To fly any of our gliders you will need to have a class 2 medical and a recognised glider pilots license such as an SPL or LAPL-S issued by your country’s CAA.

Facilities Fee. In addition to the hire fees and license validation there is a facilities fee covering the briefings and de briefing, glider tow out and cleaning, unlimited oxygen fills, use of the club facilities etc.

When you are ready to book, download the booking form, fill it in and then send on to Riaan@soaring-safaris.com

BOOKING FORM

Best time to Book?

Bookings start to come in from the season before so please don’t leave it too late. There are clear busy times and times when we have better availability and choice of gliders.

Early November at the start of the season has seen some very big flights with the weather typically drier and occasionally Blue. Mid November to Mid December is one of the most popular times with good soaring conditions but availability can be limited. Late December and over Christmas is not the easiest time to travel with family commitments but conditions are typically very good and availability is excellent. We fly every day and have a great Christmas Day with flying, food and of course the odd drink.

Early January to mid January is very popular with Christmas behind us and early booking is recommended. Again we have seen some big flights and some very fast flights at this time of year. Mid January to late January have also seen some very good conditions over the last couple of years and availability is excellent.
