Bloemfontein is the capital of the Freestate province and home to 460,000 people. It is a clean, well organised city that has a rich variety of shops and restaurants that rival those found in the big shopping centres in Johannesburg.
All the main hotel chains have hotels in Bloemfontein, there are in addition a selection of 90 guesthouses for those who prefer the more personal touch.
There are also two golf courses, squash courts, tennis courts, an adventure gym, theatres, cinemas, live jazz cafés, and a variety of other activities to entertain you when you are not gliding. Visitors will find that most commodities, food, refreshments and entertainment are very inexpensive by comparison to their own countries.
The City centre is 10km from the airfield.
